I had already bought the book but you have caused me to move it up my reading list. The science fiction I like, much of which resides in the Star Trek universe, has many stories of very advanced civilizations reverting to a very simplistic way of living in harmony with their environment when the destructive aspects of civilization are threatening them. Are we, maybe, approaching that tipping point? I don't know. But life has taught me that we humans are fantastic at ignoring the obvious. Maybe we will just go quietly extinct. I guess I can be depressing too, but I do still feel hopeful.

You do well on camera though my preference is to read your thoughts. Mostly I'm just glad you are willing to share them. You are good at making me think further about difficult topics.

Thanks, Sue! It struck me while reading Life After Doom that in the Star Trek Universe that although they arrive at this advanced but not perfect civilization there is in the story a collapse of human civilization on earth first. It's a story that follows McLaren's Collapse & Rebirth scenario.

Like you say, we humans have a knack for denial... we often don't make the wise but hard decisions. We need what in my mind amounts to a spiritual awakening. A Re-orientation to what's really important. I just don't know how we get there.

I'll stick mostly with the written word since that's definitely my comfort zone. But video is fun to experiement with and sometimes it just feels like the right medium for particular things. Hopefully if I do more of them I'll get better at them too.
